ÁSGEIR ÍVARSSON - technology
Ásgeir Ívarsson has over 18 years professional experience of engineering and management work in the fields of production of renewable chemicals and fuels, waste treatment and utilisation, and energy systems. Ásgeir holds a B.Sc. degree in Chemistry from University of Iceland, and a M.Sc.Eng degree in chemical engineering from Chalmers. Before joining CRI in 2013, he worked for over 10 years at the engineering consultation firm Mannvit (being a partner from 2007) as an engineer and a project manager, and before that for over 4 years as a development engineer and a production manager at the detergent manufacturer Mjöll Frigg’s precursor companies. Ásgeir has also worked at The Science Institute of University of Iceland, and has being a part time teacher and lecturer at University of Iceland, University of Akureyri and The School for Renewable Energy Science (RES).
Benedikt Stefánsson - Business Development
Benedikt Stefansson has over 18 years experience in business development in innovation companies, including agent based simulation systems, genome analysis, drug development and renewable fuels. Benedikt holds a C.Phil degree in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and a BS degree in Economics from the University of Iceland. Before joining CRI in 2010, he worked for 7 years as Business Development Manager and Director of Sales and Marketing at deCODE genetics and as a business developer and research scientist at HNC Software (now Fair Isaac). Benedikt has also worked as a journalist and columnist for Morgunbladid, Reykjavik, business analyst at Landsbanki, Reykjavik and policy advisor to the Minister of Economic Affairs. He was also a lecturer in economics and simulation systems at the Departments of Economics and Political Science, UCLA.
DANA STEWART MARLIN – RESEARCH AND IP
14 years experience in the field of technology, innovation and intellectual property with Actavis and Össur. At Actavis, a generics pharmaceutical company, working on reviewing third party patents and determine if particular synthetic pathways or other freedom to operate concerns were covered in the claims of the patent. At Össur, working on developing several inventions, among which were a new concept for prosthetic feet for board sports and methods for achieving vacuum suspension, plus mechanisms for locking prosthetic ankles, to name a few. Holds a Ph.D. and two postdoctoral fellowships in chemistry, all of which are heavily based on synthetic chemistry, and a European Patent Attorney.
Gunnar Þórðarson - quality, health, safety and environment
Plant and Operation Safety and Permitting. Over 20 years experience in chemical industry in QHSE. Former technical manager at the Slippélagið, Iceland. M.Sc., Chemical Engineering, Imperial College London, UK.
Kristjana maria kristjansdottir - projects
International project management experience with 8 years working in the energy sector. Started working with CRI in 2013 managing the GO plant expansion.
Margrét Ormslev Ásgeirsdóttir - Finance, administration and hr
Margret has a M.Sc in Economics and B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Iceland. She also received a M.Sc.degree in Energy Systems and Policies from The School of Renewable Energy Science. Previous work experience includes working at Landsbankinn in corporate finance, corporate restructuring, consultation and support for new businesses, business development and marketing; and at a consulting engineers firm in procurement management and implementing ISO 9001 quality system.
ÓMAR SIGURBJÖRNSSON - sales and marketing
Ómar Sigurbjörnsson joined Carbon Recycling International in 2009 as a research scientist and served as the Director of Research and Development from 2010-2016. His responsibilities included the management of research projects, laboratory and pilot plant operations, application engineering for project development as well as the company's intellectual property. Ómar received his M.Sc. degree in Physical Chemistry from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and a B.Sc. degree in Chemistry from the University of Iceland. Previously he has worked as an academic researcher and in the aluminium industry in Iceland..
Sindri Sindrason - CHIEF Executive
Sindri Sindrason is CEO of CRI. He was Chairman of the Board of Directors of CRI 2008-2016. Former CEO of Pharmaco/Actavis, an international pharmaceutical company, and expanded the company into Eastern Europe through various mergers and acquisitions in the generic pharmaceutical industry. Sindri Sindrason also served as the Chairman of Eimskip, an international shipping and logistics company, and has as well served as a board member in various companies.
