Emissions-to-Liquids

Carbon Recycling International (CRI) has over the past 10 years successfully demonstrated the process, technology and scalability of its Emissions-to-Liquids (ETL) technology. Renewable methanol is an advanced fuel for transport and greener substitute for conventional methanol, produced from fossil resources, providing benefits for the economy and the environment.

There are very few processes which can rival the simplicity and scalability of ETL technology, as the alternatives mostly depend on availability of waste biomass and/or unproven technologies at scale to transform waste biomass or CO2 into chemicals through biological pathways (enzymatic, cyanobacteria, algae). 

Conventional production of synthetic fuels uses high temperature and high pressure thermochemical processes, which are capital and fossil energy intensive. Coal and gas, mostly mined in remote areas, must be transported over long distances. Conventional production increases carbon dioxide emissions, and, at a small scale, these processes are not economical.

The ETL technology  enables cost-effective conversion of renewable energy to liquid fuel on small scale. Energy can be used from any renewable source, including geothermal, hydro, wind, or solar. ETL consists of a system of electrolytic cracking and catalytic synthesis, leading to a low pressure and low temperature electrochemical production process.

Implementation of CRI's ETL technology to produce Renewable Methanol can be done in phases and in a modular construction approach. The process is free of carbon dioxide emissions.

CRI's technology is practical for energy storage, fuel transport and carbon dioxide reduction.
